Mia~ A WIP painting 3

Added a bit more color to her nose, started on the base coat of her eye color. Working on the ink on her back and back leg. Little more to her Teddy bear Mouse.
Still not sure if I am going to paint in the rug or not.

Mia~ A WIP painting 2

Just started in the left leg
Filling in the stripes on her fur just a little more. Started with the under-ink for her teddybear mouse's fur.
Thought this Pen & Ink would go more quickly than the last...but have finally figured out, Mia has a whole lot of stripes~

Should Artists' only do one Medium?

I have been told that one only becomes a....." good well known Artist" is if they do only one medium.
However, I found that is not the case at all. Here are a couple of examples. Biggies to be sure.

Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni
He was well know for doing ..
sculpture, painting, architecture and poetry
Explore his world

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci
Well known for all his endeavors of..
Math, engineer, inventor, anatomist, sculptor, architect, writer and so on..also considered one of the most famous painters of his time.
Some of his Art can be seen here.

So my words of wisdom to anyone either, just starting out, master Artist or inbetween...
Explore and create to your hearts content, be willing to spread your own wings and follow your Art where ever it may go.
Don't worry about what other's say you should or should not do.
Only you know what interests you, even if it is many mediums instead of one or any combination there of.
In doing this, you will find that you will complete your best works.

Mia~ A WIP painting

This is my next painting...ya.. I know..another Cat. Will be done in Pen & Ink with a Watercolor pencil wash.

She will be a Christmas kitten, with red ribbon bow around her neck and packages around her.

Here you can see my pencil drawing and the photo. Usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to do the basic pencil sketch.

I just started using tracing paper to place over the basic drawing, so I can pencil in some gift boxes on top. That way I can get the scale correct. If I mess up, then it is no big deal.
Just starting the Pen and Ink.
More Pen...and decided to put a little bit of color on her nose, so it is easier to see.
I stopped here, because I plan to use fisk for her wiskers...that way I don't have to worry about putting color on them. Fisk..however can be tricky, so I want to get as much Pen & Ink done as I can in other areas, before I do around her wiskers and the fisk.

The Challenges of Photographing Kittens~

Was thinking to use Mia for my next kitten Pen & Ink, only problem is she is a wiggly wee creature. A Challenge to be sure. Managed to get 3 captures that might do for one of my projects.
Now to decide which one..... and should I do straight ink or add a watercolor wash?

Draft Horse photographs

Here are just a few of the Draft horse photos I took the last day of the State Fair. Really need a Nikon D300 for the type of photos I want to take but until I can afford it I am stuck with the one I have. Will have to at least get a better flash.
These photos were taken out side where there was better light.
Decided to use close ups and different angles...just to do something different.
