A Question Sunset ~

This isn’t the most flashy Sunset photo I have taken but I thought it was very interesting. You see against the dark clouds, a light colored one floating there looking like a question mark.
Photo was taken on my NW Oregon Farm with my Evolt 510 Camera.
The photo is untouched, like most of my photos.

Flow and Mingles

This creation is following my love of Circles and flowing movement, using Apo 7× and will be up in my Online Art shops soon.

Unicorn WIP 5

The Icelandic Unicorn is coming along slowly. I have added the gold leaf ink on the horn but still have to do some highlights on it. Have starting working on her mane, trying to make it as free flowing as possible. Background is a bit brighter than it is in person due to the flash.

Just a shot of my Artist's desk with the latest painting on it, looking out to one of my horse pastures. In this photo, it is too hard to see my mini Mare laying down with the lambs. An inspiring and peaceful place to work.

Accepted in the Juried Art Show at SoJie !

"Shafts of Fading Light" has been accepted into....
Accepted in SoJie 10
Earth Day International juried exhibition.

You can see my Entry at SoJie, along with all the other wonderful Artists.

Unicorn WIP 4

I wasn't sure how I was going to place her horn, so I took a thin piece of paper and placed it over my painting. This way, I would not draw and erase on the good hot press many times over, which would ruin the paper.

Since I now had her horn placed on her forehead, it was time to start the back ground. This is the first under layer of color but I had a problem. Using Derwent watercolor pencils makes it nigh on impossible to do large areas of color well.

Rarely do I put watercolor pencil to paper but in the case I would have too. So I used the side of the pencil and slowly did circular motions with various colors onto the hot press paper.

Then I very carefully... with a couple of small brushes, added the smallest amount water to the pigment. Using a circular motion again so I can create the Monet type background I was looking for.

Icelandic Unicorn ~ WIP 3

Finished up putting the first layer of Ink on the Icelandic Unicorn's back and tail. Then worked on the legs a bit more and started with some shading in places.
Will be working on the mane next and then figuring out how to place the golden horn on her forehead.
Also need to start on the background and snow.

Slightly blurry close up of her eye. Can kind'a see the start of her fur texture.

Unicorn WIP 2

Starting to apply the first layer of Ink.

Continuing with the first layer of Ink and adding some Shading to this piece. I have asked myself this question and I would love to hear from all of you.
Should I continue this piece as a golden horned Unicorn or should I just make it a cantering Icelandic playing in the snow?
You see, I am at a toss up but need to make a decision soon.

Icelandic Unicorn ~ Pen and Ink

I decided to put my Art table back up and un pack some of my Art supplies, as I really want to paint again. This time I figured I would do something fun, how about an Icelandic Unicorn?!
Took a interesting photo of Dyfra not too long ago and am going to use her as a reference.
Will use my Pen and Ink and a bit of watercolor wash. I plan on inking in each hair on the Icelandic, so this piece might take awhile.
