F-14 TomCat Work in Progress~4

Added more color to the top of the Jet but still need to finish up on the drop tanks.
Think I am pretty much finished, might add some more detail but I will let it sit a day or two and come back to the F-14 with a fresh eye so to speak.
Then I can get it scanned in.

F-14 TomCat Work in Progress~3

I have to say I am really enjoying this painting. Have been adding more ink detail work and a few more layers of wash.

Just starting to work on the canopy. The ranges of shades from light to dark are quite interesting on this piece. I am making sure to have my brush strokes curving in the directions needed to make the Jet more life like.

Am still deciding wither to put the VFA- 211 Sundowners or VFA-213 Insignia on the tail, as they are one of the 3 main Squadron DH worked on. Choices.... VBG

F-14 TomCat Work in Progress~2

Adding more detailed shading, liquid ink and Watercolor pencil washes. More color on the wing, tail and underside.
Had to stop to pencil in some more detail around the upper part of the Jet. Adding more color to the wing, detail around the exhaust.
I have yet to figure out how Not to be messy with liquid ink. VBG

F-14 TomCat Work in Progress~

Decided to do a painting with out fur this time.
This is one of the many photographs I have taken of Aircraft. This one is a F-14 Tomcat. My DH worked on the flight deck of the USS Ranger and on the Electronics of the first two F-14 models, on the Ranger and two other Carriers.
Here I have rough sketched the fighter jet and just started with the ink.

First layer of the sky and a bit more ink.

Another layer added to the sky above and below the fighter. More in in the dark areas and penciling in a little more detail as needed.
The paper has warped a bit at this point, so the painting doesn't look quite straight. This issue will not be a problem once the painting is finished.

Working on the first couple of layers of color on the underside of the Fighter. Bit more ink work.

Very hard to see but have the first layer of the lightest color on the Wing, have added more layers of color on the tail.
More to come.

Handspun Yarn now for sale on Etsy!

I have finally put the small offering of handspun yarn on my Etsy shop. I will post the link to the shop and my main web site at the bottom of this post.
Right now I am working on the British Top fleece in Medium dark green with 35% tussah silk, colors of blue, purple, pink and green this is a luxury blend. Medium handle, nice luster but still suited for sweaters, hats, scarves and so on. I am in the process of spinning the first ply, to what will be a Two ply fine yarn.
British Top in Medium dark Blue with 35% tussah silk, colors of blue, purple, pink and green, this is a luxury blend. Medium soft, nice luster, suited for sweaters, hats, gloves, socks and what ever your hearts desire! This is more of a medium bulky yarn.

Blue Faced Leicester, Ercu in color, two ply all ready rolled in a ball for easy use. It is known for its fairly fine, very soft and dense, demi-luster wool. Great for use as sweaters, scarfs, hats lap throw and so on. Can see the thickness of the yarn via the penny. This Ball is more of a Fine or Sport weight yarn.

Very rare and nearly impossible to find, Gotland fleece from the first shearing.I wasn't planning on selling any of this hard to find wool but I decided to offer a small amount. This is all I have left as I have not found another source for this fleece.Same fleece used to make clothing for the movie, "Lord of the Rings". Super soft, nice luster, suited for sweaters, hats, gloves, socks, baby clothes and what ever your heart desires!

For information on my yarn, please go to my main web site at..

Each Skein or Ball of yarn varies slightly in its thickness, this is due to the unique nature of Hanspun Yarn.
All the yarn is spun on my Majacraft Saxonie spinning wheel in smoke free home.

Sleeping Mia completed~

Sleeping Mia is finished. Think I will title this painting, "Contentment".
Think part of my problem is my scanner is just to strong with white or the lighter colors.
But I was able to fix the other issues I had for this piece.
This painting was done in Pen & Ink, with Ink and Watercolor pencil wash on 140lb Hot press paper.

Some Older works from -07'

You know... I have to admit.. all though these pieces are simple compared to some of the stuff I do.... I had so much fun painting them.
Might start doing these simple ones again.
Love penning feathers, tree bark, barrels, pots and so on!!
They are Pen and Ink a with ink and watercolor pencil washes.

Sleeping Mia WIP ~ thought I was done but~~

OK,, so I got the kitten painting scanned in. However...I am not happy with it. Part of the problem with the white bedding could be that my scanner is powerful enough to have trouble with white/light areas.
While the bedding is as white as it is in the photo...there just isn't enough contrast. Do not want to change the color of the kitten....so should I add..maybe a light wash of color on the bedding in front?

Also see a couple of other things I am not happy with...light the white areas above her eyes..while close to the picture, just doesn't look right as a painting. Not even enough I am thinking.

So I don't think I am quite done yet.

Sleeping Mia WIP ~8

I am nearly finished with the Painting of Mia. Removed all masking. Did more work with the bedding she is laying on, made the highlights much darker than it was in the photo.Little more to depth to do there. Decided to do just an ink and Watercolor wash for the color on her paw.
Took a close up, not the best but you get the idea. Need to clean up her wisker area, after removing the Masking.
Have to say with this one... the snap photos I have taken, do not show the extensive detail. Once I finish, I will properly scan the painting and that should show all the fine detailing.
