Stinson Reliant

This creation is based off a photograph I took of a Stinson Reliant. 
Is a combo of hand drawn  ink and Digital work.
It is not a very well known plane but it has seen military service.

The SR has been modified to pick-up allied spies behind enemy lines during WWII 
and retrieve photographic canisters that were ejected from 
US spy satellites, in the 60’s and 70s

Acrylic Prints

Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of 

an acrylic print.   Your image gets printed directly onto the back of 

a 1/4" thick sheet of clear acrylic.

The image is the art - it doesn't get any cleaner than that!

All acrylic prints ship within 2 - 3 business days and arrive "ready to hang" 

with four aluminum mounting posts (Option #1) or hanging wire (Option #2).

The high gloss of the acrylic sheet complements the rich colors of any

 image to produce stunning results.

There are two different ways to mount your acrylic print.

Option #1 (Mounting Posts) - Attach your print to your wall with four 

aluminum mounting posts.   The cylindrical cap of each mounting post

 can be removed, 

allowing you to thread a small screw along the center axis of the of post and 

into the wall.   When you're finished, simply reattached each cap, and you're done.

   The mounting posts act as stand-offs and keep your print separated from the

 wall by 1".   All of the required mounting hardware 

(i.e. posts, screws, and wall anchors) is included with your print.

Option #2 (Hanging Wire) - With this option, your acrylic print is 

attached to a 1/4" thick black board which has a wooden frame and

 hanging wire attached to the back.   There are no metal mounting 

posts at the corners.   Simply put a nail in your wall, hang your print 

from the hanging wire, and you're done.   Due to the thickness of 

the black board and mounting frame, your print is separated from the

New Icelandic horse Painting WIP 3

Finally had about an hour and a half to work on my latest painting.
Working on the body a bit more, started working on the legs and the first layer of color for the mane and tail.
Feels very good to be painting again.

New Icelandic Horse painting ~ WIP2

I am over the moon, that I was able to spend six hours painting today.
Doesn't happen often but I love it when I can.


As you can see, I have more of the first Icelandic Horse worked on.  The colors will not exactly match, as I do not quite, have the right pigments.
And his forehead looks a little funny, but when I paint in his forelock and mane, he will look a lot better.

New Two Icelandic Horse painting ~ WIP1

I have finally found some time to work on the re-due, of the two Icelandic Horse painting.
Still fighting with the older paint a bit but I am managing to lay on some under color.  
Water based Oils is like, working with a medium that is in between, Traditional Oils and Acrylic, both in texture and drying time.


And I am slowly coming to the conclusion, that at some point,   I am going to need to start painting with larger Canvas's. Eye sight isn't what it used to be.

Knitted Butterfly Abstract

Have been so busy with the new place, I haven't had time for my Art. So I decided to finish working on this abstract piece.....

Not the best photo in the world but you can kind'a see what my Art Studio is like, at the new place.
Is nice to have a place, I can close the door and keep the helpful Nari... out of my paint. ;O)
Still need to put a window treatment on this window but I am slowing getting the room together.

Starting over ~ water based Icelandic Horse oil painting

I have been messing with the background of the first painting I started, as I was not happy with a number of things. 
Will keep working with this one for the time being, not sure what will become of it.

During this time, I started another background for the two Icelandic Horses. This background will allow the horse's to stand out better.

Just a very, very rough blocking in of the two Icelandic's. I wanted to get them roughed in as soon as possible. Once this layer of paint dries, the real work begins.


Sorry about the glare, just no way to get a good photo of this in the house with a flash.

What Dreams are Made of~~

Have finally decided which Icelandic Horse photo I will use in my next painting. Want to tell you all, it wasn't an easy choice.
Want to Thank Andrea Barber, for her use of her photo of Vikingur and Nokkvi. They pulled at my heart strings...
Now I hope I can do well enough, to do them Justice.


I am in the process of both blocking in and adding color two these two beautiful Icelandic's. As you can see, my paintings go through an ugly duckling phase.
Also decided to use more of a fir tree back ground... missing Oregon a bit. ;O)


Is nice to have the proper linseed oil for blending and a white that isn't old and chunky. Having fresh paint, makes a big difference.

Even at this point, I can see I am going to have to either.... lighten the bay horse a lot, or lighten the background. Will think about it tonight, to figure out which way I think I need to go. Because the oil paint is so fresh, it is impossible to take a photo, without large amounts of glare.

Nobility ~ An Icelandic Horse Oil Painting

This painting is finally finished and dry enough to scan. 
Tell you one thing, doesn't take really old oil paints 6 months to dry.
Another problem with Oil paints, is they are shinny and this makes it really hard to scan without some white glare, or bleed through.

Within the next couple of weeks I will have this piece available at most of my Online shops.

Water based Oil Icelandic Horse WIP 6

Pretty much finished with the last two legs. Still need to add the shadows and a bit of fine tuning, but very close to being done with this piece.
This is my Icelandic mare Dyfra, without her flea bites, in a fast Tolt.

Started working on the Icelandic's tail, worked on her legs a bit more, as I wasn't quite happy with them.
Still have the far legs to do and some shadowing on the ground.

Close up of Dyfra's head and the colors with this one are a little nearer to true.

Worked on Dyfra's legs more and added her mane. Thought about adding her," flea spots" but decided against it, as at this point, I think they would look strange.

A beautiful Sunday morning out, so I decided to work on my Icelandic Horse painting. Can't believe how much I am enjoying this.
Normally I give tips and ideas... However, right now the only thing I can say is... working with 14+ year old WB Oil does present some challenges and not having linseed oil to help smooth the blending...
I would recommend if you have old paint, replace it and make sure you have linseed oil available when you start.
